(robinsonm@marquette.edu), and
- Satishchandra Pai, MDS, MSI Columbia University (ssp2004@columbia.edu).
They will take over from Heiko Spallek, the current chair, on January 1,2005. They discussed about "The Federal e-Health initiative".
- New IMIA WG chairs-elect:
-
The new chair was announced:
Gary F. Guest, DDS, DMD, Director of Predoctoral Clinics, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, (guest@uthscsa.edu)
He will take over from Wook-Sung Yoo, the current chair, in 2006.
- AMIA WG Policy Changes:
- The AMIA Board of Directors has agreed to remove obsolete distinctions
and requirements for the AMIA Working Groups (WGs) and Special Interest
Groups (SIGs), and make the processes for lifecycle management and
project funding more responsive. These changes are effective
immediately. That means in detail that the distinction between Working
Groups and Special Interest Groups has been removed. In addition,
Working Groups no longer have to submit "token" budgets and projects,
rather groups are free to submit project proposals any time,
rather than once a year. And, groups do not have to create specific projects to
remain active, as long as they form an active community with a
responsive chair.
- The new requirements for AMIA WGs are:
-
- Each working group must have a chair.
- The chair must be an active participant in the working group and an effective liaison to the rest of AMIA.
- The group must hold elections
- Each group must maintain a web site and an email distribution list.
- Each group must exhibit ongoing behavior consistent with the continued need to be in active status.
